Some of the last visage of how old Tokyo used to be, the neighborhood Ueno lacks large shopping mall or massive skyscrapers. Instead, this western most district of Tokyo enjoys archaic open air markets, food stands, and an exhaustive list of selvedge denim retailers. Of course, not to forgetmita-sneakers, what could be the only sneaker boutique in the area?
Started humbly as a single kiosk within a chaotic shopping center, the store outgrew its little corner on the 4th floor, though the decision to move was put off several time until the right location was found. Their patience paid off handsomely. Finally, there it was, a more than ideal space for all mita-sneakers’ offerings to be display and for sneakerheads to mingle among each other. But this is no cautionary tale of customers searching the new spot or a need for Indiana Jones-like exploits to find it. The new mita-sneaker is simply 2 floors down on the second floor. With raw concrete wall, chain linked fences, and graffiti covered park bench, the owners finally could envision what mita is, a playground what your kicks take the center stage.
